Quite An Audience

Here’s an original picture that was released by the Army for the press. Attached to it is the info sheet which contains information about the scene and gives an indication of the whereabouts. Probably in Limburg near Maastricht in the fall of 1944. The photo was released for publication the 24th of February 1945.

It gives a nice idea of what the Dutch children of those days wore. Since they are looking well kept, it is obvious that the American presence is good for the health and living standard of the liberated population.

Staff Sergeant Bill Yoest is dressed in wool OD’s with a M41 field jacket and combat (buckle) boots. His helmet is covered with the small British type netting.
